my PC has a 512MB EVGA GeForce 8800GT vid card in it.
i have vista 32 as my os, so i dont want to sacrifice to much of my ram getting a very nice 2nd vid card.
here is what i am trying to accomplish:
i have dual monitors with my desktop extended. i would like to get a 3rd monitor that mirrors my primary monitor but keep the 2nd one how it is. i actually want to run the 3rd monitor into the next room, so when i have to be in the next room, i don’t miss whats going on (this prob wont happen much, but i want to have it).
is it best to find some sort of dvi switch and switch it when i need it (if so, suggestions?), or get another vid card (im not even sure 1 can be mirrored and one extended this way), and if i go with another vid card will it cause a problem if it isnt the same as my 1st one? or at least 512mb as well (not using it for gaming, but for online poker)?
thanks so much.

I think a switch would be the best solution.
You really want a DVI-D Y splitter. You can get them on eBay for about $10.
It’s just a cable… a y cable.
Since you only want to mirror the one monitor, you simpliest and cheaper solution would be a video splitter. It is a cable that plugs into the DVI (they also make VGA) port on your computer, and than has two cable that come off it. Both carry the exact same signal, since they are coming off the same port, and require no configuring within Windows. You can get them in the $10-20 range (comapred to a $200 video card.)
