Is it illegal to play poker online in the USA?

I got 5 dollars free from pokerstars and won up to 10 dollars. A friend told me it was illegal to play with real money. Am I breaking the law by playing online poker for money (in America)? Should I stop playing?

Card room/Casino that allows 18 yr olds nearest to NJ?

When I turn 18 I want to go to an Indian Casino or Card room that allow young players. Which Casino/Card Room is closest to NJ that I can start my poker career at. Well, Sandy I was hoping to find an apartment or stay at a hotel for a while. Like a few years. But I’m not sure how that works since, Indian casinos are on reservation I guess. So do they have houses I can rent out or somethin?
